Here’s one thing we didn’t have on our 2025 bingo cards – Christina Aguilera taking over the iconic Grindr notification noise with her own song!
Yes, that’s 100% true. The “Dirrty” singer is lending her lyrics to Grindr. And it’s all happening for the Portola Festival in San Francisco, which Xtina is headlining.
Between the 15 and 22 September, Grindr users in the United States will hear something quite different from the usual ‘bloop’.
Instead, a new message will be announced by Christina singing, “Come on Over” as in “Come On Over Baby (All I Want is You)”, from her self-titled debut album.
“We’re giving Xtina the keys, because from one gay icon to another, the famous Grindr bloop deserves nothing less,” Grindr has said in a statement announcing the switch ahead of Aguilera’s performance on 20 September.
“We know the bloop is sacred. That’s why we’re only letting one of pop’s greatest diva’s mess with it – because there ain’t no other man, woman, or app sound that could do it better,” it continued.
Aguilera added, “Portola, Grindr and me? That’s a threesome I can get behind. When that ‘Come on Over’ sound hits at the festival, or wherever you’re celebrating, I hope things get spicy!”
A short promo sees Aguilera being styled for a show while “Come on Over” can be heard repeatedly as her team all get Xtina-themed Grindr messages. “Hi gays, are you ready to ‘Come on Over’?” Xtina asks at the end, winking devilishly.
And we’re sure things will get plenty of spicy indeed! Grindr has confirmed that the swap will only happen for US users, so the rest of us will have to remain content with the usual bloop.
The iconic Grindr sound will return for US users on 22 September. Users must have the latest version of the app in order to hear “Come on Over.”
