Young people across Dumfries and Galloway enjoy packed summer activity programme

Young people across Dumfries and Galloway enjoyed a packed programme of activities during the school holiday. The council’s youth work service arranged everything from magic masterclasses and self-defence workshops to sports sessions, movie nights and more. The programme gave young people the chance to develop new skills, build friendships and make summer memories. And the highlight was once again the hugely popular Camp DG, with more than 250 campers enjoying a residential full of fun and adventure. Activities such as den building, craft workshops, discos and outdoor games were all on offer, giving campers the chance to learn new skills, build confidence, and strengthen teamwork in a fun, supportive and welcoming environment. Young camp leaders spent the week supporting and guiding their peers, with their energy, dedication and leadership playing a huge part in ensuring every camper felt involved. Chair of the council’s education, skills and community wellbeing committee, Councillor Tracey Little, said: “It was fantastic to see so many young people taking part in Camp DG and enjoying the wide range of opportunities on offer. “The camp provides a safe, supportive space where young people can grow in confidence, build friendships, and make lifelong memories.
