It’s Not an iPad Pro, But This Fire Tablet Is Now 15x Cheaper and It’s Really Awesome
Not everyone wants to shell out $1,000 for an iPad Pro, and sometimes a basic tactile tablet is all you really need. Amazon knows this, and they’ve been turning the Fire HD tablets into a household name for budget entertainment and everyday use. The 2024 model of the Fire HD 8 is now available at a new all-time low price of just $64 (down from $99) as an early October Prime Day deal.

Compact Size, Long Battery and AI Capabilities
Fire HD 8 has an 8-inch HD display with 1280 x 800 pixels that provides you with crisp graphics for watching videos or reading books. While it’s not the brightest or sharpest screen in the market, it’s bright enough for indoor use and provides a comfortable viewing experience thanks to wide viewing angles. Its size makes it ideal to carry around and fits easily in your bag or hands.
This model features 3GB of RAM which is 50% more than the previous model. The higher the RAM, the smoother the performance when switching between apps or having multiple things open at the same time. The tablet boasts 32GB of storage and you can add up to another 1TB with a microSD card if you require more space.
Battery life is similarly a strong point with a rating of up to 13 hours, so you can watch films, read, or listen to music all day long without needing to recharge constantly. Some neat new AI-driven features from Amazon include a Wallpaper Creator for designing your own backgrounds, a writing assistant that will help with emails and text editing, and a webpage summary tool to reduce research time. Alexa is also built-in, so you can play music, receive the news, control smart home products, or even make video calls via apps like Zoom or WhatsApp with voice commands.
The Fire HD 8 also has cameras: a 5MP rear camera with 1080p video recording for basic photos and videos, and a 2MP front camera with 720p video for video calling. Connectivity includes dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2 for stable connections and wireless peripherals. Charging and transfer are handled by a USB-C port, a newer standard that makes it easier to plug in.
At $64, it’s hard to find a better deal for a portable tablet with these features.
