College of Charleston to remember education instructor killed in accident

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – The College of Charleston is holding a public celebration of life for one of its instructors who died early this month in a cable railway crash in Portugal.
Heather Hall was a faculty member in the college’s Department of Teacher Education.
The remembrance is being held in the Cistern Yard on the CofC campus at 1 p.m. Friday.
She was the only American to die in the Sept. 3 crash in Lisbon, the college said. School of Education Dean Fran Welch, who called Hall’s death a tragic loss, said she was in Portugal to speak at a conference.
Her energy, kindness and student-centeredness will be deeply missed,” Welch said.
Hall specialized in special education and shared her love of travel with her students, Welch said.
