Mikey Moore has been told that he is too young to play for Rangers , with Connor Barron also coming in for some heavy stick. That’s according to former Celtic and Scotland star Charlie Mulgrew, who doesn’t believe either are up to the standards required to pull on the Light Blue jersey at Ibrox. Moore , 18, arrived on a season-long loan from Tottenham in the summer having enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with the Europa League winners last year, making 19 appearances in total. Playmaker Barron was snapped up from Premiership rivals Aberdeen 12 months ago and racked up 46 appearances in all competitions in his debut campaign. However, neither player has been able to pick up regular minutes in the first 12 games of the current season, with no wins from five Premiership matches leaving Gers sitting second bottom of the table. Fans are already calling for boss Russell Martin to lose his job, with chairman Andrew Cavenagh set to attend Saturday’s crunch Premier Sports Cup quarter final tie at home to Hibs . Leading supporters’ groups have confirmed plans for a protest outside Ibrox ahead of the 5.45pm kick-off, with others also choosing not to purchase tickets in protest at the board’s decision to stick by their manager. And the under-fire gaffer has been told that England youth international Moore is not mature enough to handle what comes with being a Rangers player. Speaking on GO Radio, Mulgrew said: “Mikey Moore is not ready to play for Rangers, that’s my opinion. I watch him and he looks like a young boy. “I don’t think Barron for me is of the quality to be a Rangers number six and dominate games. If you compare him with Callum McGregor, I don’t think he is anywhere near that.” Belgium international Nico Raskin is back in training with the Light Blues after being linked away with a move all summer but it remains to be seen if he will be recalled by Martin for the visit of the Hibees. The 24-year-old was a top performer in an otherwise dismal season for Rangers last year but Mulgrew reckons bringing him back in only marginally improves the overall quality of the team. He added: “I know there is a lot of talk about Raskin. But I don’t think putting Raskin in that team on Saturday makes Rangers win that game. “Does it improve the Rangers team? I think it does. But I don’t think he’s the saviour. “He has been in plenty of games and had plenty of performances where Rangers have done it.”
