The 2025/26 edition of the NPL T20 Blast roars into action this weekend, promising another round of high-octane cricket as Zimbabwe’s leading clubs turn up the heat in the shorter format.
The eight participating teams booked their places in the competition through a top-eight finish in the just-ended National Premier League (NPL) 45-over tournament, ensuring a strong and competitive line-up.
Action gets underway on Saturday with a blockbuster clash between defending NPL T20 Blast champions Rangers – who are also the newly crowned 45-over NPL winners – and Takashinga Patriots 1, the runners-up in both competitions, at Old Hararians Sports Club.
The match starts at 1330 hours.
Fixtures on the opening day also feature Amakhosi 1 versus Takashinga Patriots 2 at Kwekwe Sports Club, while Alexandra Sports Club will host Gladiators at their city ground.
The weekend wraps up on Sunday with Queens Sports Club taking on Rimuka, also at Kwekwe Sports Club.
The tournament will continue on Wednesday, with Rangers taking on Amakhosi 1 at Masvingo Sports Club.
On the same day, fans can also look forward to a thrilling sibling derby between Takashinga Patriots 1 and Takashinga Patriots 2 at Old Hararians Sports Club, while Alexandra host Rimuka and Gladiators meet Queens at Kwekwe Sports Club.
A total of 28 round-robin matches will be played up to 12 October, after which the top four sides will advance to the playoff stage to determine the finalists.
Dates and venues for the qualifier, eliminator and final fixtures are yet to be confirmed.
The 2025/26 NPL T20 Blast promises intense, fast-paced cricket, with teams eager to assert early dominance and set the tone for what is expected to be an exciting season in Zimbabwean club cricket.
