Teachers and pupils will move into the new Faifley campus next month which has been described as “one of the most advanced” school campuses in West Dunbartonshire.
The project, which cost £35 million, has been funded through the Scottish Government’s Learning Estate Improvement Programme in partnership with Hub West Scotland and will provide a new home to St Joseph’s and Edinbarnet Primary Schools as well as Auchnacraig and Lennox Early Learning and Childcare Centres.
It will also offer an additional support needs base, education resource centre, community facilities to replace the Skypoint Centre and a new community library.
The grounds also have an all-weather sports pitch and an external Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) for outdoor sports as well as a generous playground to enhance opportunities for physical activity among the pupils.
The project was discussed at an education committee meeting earlier this week.
Kilpartrick councillor William Rooney said: “It has come quite fast, but next month the pupils, staff and teachers will be moving into a brand spanking new Faifley campus in my ward.
“That is fantastic. I had a wee tour of the school last month and everyone is going to be in for an absolute treat and I am absolutely delighted to see the families of Faifley will be benefiting from a new school campus in a month’s time.
“It is one of the most advanced school campuses in West Dunbartonshire if not Scotland and it is going to give a fantastic learning experience so I am really excited to see how this project is going to start changing people’s lives in the communities we represent.”
Following the meeting, SNP group leader and Kilpatrick ward councillor Gordon Scanlan said the new Faifley campus was a fantastic facility that will benefit families across the community.
Councillor Scanlan said: “The new Faifley Campus shows exactly what that commitment means in practice: modern classrooms for our children, world-class early years provision, and fantastic community facilities that families right across Faifley, Hardgate, Duntocher, and beyond will benefit from.
“The SNP Government is investing in our young people, backing our teachers, and making sure every child gets the best possible start in life. From the Baby Box, to free childcare worth thousands of pounds for families, to free university tuition, to the Scottish Child Payment lifting children out of poverty – the SNP is delivering for families at every stage of a young person’s journey.
“I’m especially proud that the new Faifley Campus, right here in my ward, is the latest example of John Swinney’s government putting West Dunbartonshire first and building a better future for the next generation.”
