The iPhone 17 series is now available in the market and we are gradually seeing real-life test results for the devices, including the new 17 Pro and how their cameras perform. But one of the biggest changes this year from Apple is the new iPhone Air model which is its slimmest iPhone till date, and that laurel comes with a lot of compromises.
It packs a smaller battery than all the other iPhone 17 models, it has fewer cameras than the base iPhone 17 and still costs a lot more than the outgoing iPhone Plus version. We are finally getting more clarity on how the sleek iPhone model performs in straining battery tests.
iPhone Air Battery Tests: How It Fares?
Most reports claim the iPhone Air has a battery unit of around 3,100mAh and Apple is not using silicon carbon technology to pack more density into a thinner unit. Instead, all the components sit at the top of the device which is an amazing use of engineering on its own.
But the question that everyone is asking, can the iPhone Air last one full day’s use on a single charge? The test done by folks at Tom’s Guide suggests the Air model is deceptively better with the battery life and almost a match for the regular iPhone 17 version. They were surprised how the sleek device manages to be efficient and offer around 6 hours of screen-on-time, while the regular tests got them 12 hours of web surfing on the iPhone Air.
Decent But Not Ideal
This is not exactly bad like we dreaded for the iPhone Air battery life, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge but the figures aren’t entirely that impressive either. That’s because the iPhone 17 Pro Max can run for 6 hours more than the Air version, which carries a 5,000mAh battery unit this year.
Going by these numbers for the iPhone Air, you might have to charge it at least once in the day to avoid any battery anxiety while you’re on the move.
iPhone Air is priced at Rs 1,19,900 in India and is now available across platforms in the country. We’ll probably hear more about the new model in the next few weeks as the media reviews come out.
