Operation Advance returns to Sandwell as police crack down on retail crime, dangerous drivers and anti-social behaviour

Sandwell Police have said that the force’s Operation Advance will return to the streets of Sandwell in a day of intensive action.

The operation will see police travel around the streets of Sandwell addressing issues that matter the most to residents.

As part of the action, extra police resources have been stationed around the region, with officers already being on the streets looking to address the public’s concerns.

Chief Superintendent Kim Madill, from Sandwell Police, said: “Operation Advance sees staff and officers from every police department locally and across the force working together with partners to deliver 24 hours of intensive police operations.

“After months of planning, we will be using all of those resources as an opportunity to tackle issues in the borough that matter most to you.

“If you see us out and about, feel free to come and chat to us and tell us about any issues, while also finding out more about the work happening in your area.”

Later today, officers will be tackling organised and violent crime, road safety, and further reports of anti-social behaviour and shop thefts.

To increase the impact in the area, Sandwell Police’s units have also been bolstered with specialist officers and staff from other departments, with today’s focus being on helping residents where they are needed.

The force added: “Our existing Sandwell teams will be bolstered with specialist officers and staff from other departments to further act on issues impacting residents and businesses.

“While today’s focus is on Sandwell, we will always make sure that we’re there to help wherever you are in the West Midlands.”
