LaDMA, Turkish Embassy partner for trade, investment

Turkey and LaDMA Partner to Boost Trade and Create Jobs

The Embassy of Turkey in Ghana is teaming up with the La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) to explore opportunities in trade and investment, aiming to create jobs and strengthen economic ties between the two nations.

Turkish Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Huseyin Gungor, revealed this during a courtesy visit to the Assembly in Accra on Thursday. He emphasized that trade and investment are key areas for job creation, which could help citizens improve their livelihoods.

“My main focus is on creating job opportunities through trade and investment,” Ambassador Gungor explained. “When people are able to earn an income, they can support their families, contribute to the local economy, and help fund development through taxes.”

The ambassador’s visit was aimed at strengthening the bilateral relationship between Turkey and the Assembly, which hosts the embassy. It also served as a platform to explore mutually beneficial business opportunities.

Mr. Gungor highlighted educational collaboration as another area of growth, noting that around 90 Ghanaian students have received scholarships to study in Turkey over the past two years. The embassy, he added, is working to increase that number to allow even more students to benefit.

LaDMA’s Chief Executive, Mr. Alfredos Nii Anyetei, welcomed the partnership and shared details about the Assembly’s long-term development plan. He said LaDMA is currently seeking partners to help implement this plan, which targets a wide range of development areas.

“These include improving security, creating jobs, supporting small and medium-sized businesses, and empowering farmers and agro-processors,” Mr. Anyetei stated.

He added that the plan also focuses on building craft markets, supporting artisans, and expanding key infrastructure in education, health, sanitation, the environment, and agriculture.
