Actor Robo Shankar, known for his comedic brilliance on television and in films, sadly passed away on September 18 due to ill health. His passing has left the entire film industry in shock, with many visiting his residence to pay their last respects.
He was widely loved for his humour and energy, bringing joy to countless audiences across Tamil cinema and television. He is survived by his wife, Priyanka, and daughter, Indraja.
Indraja, who gained attention for her role as Pandiyamma in the film Bigil, is also recognised for her resemblance to her father and her growing presence in the entertainment industry. The scene where Vijay delivers the line “Kundamma, Kundamma” before she angrily kicks the ball remains a fan favourite.
Despite pursuing her studies, Indraja has continued acting and is quite active on social media, often sharing glimpses of her personal life. She married director Karthik, a relative, in March last year, and the wedding was celebrated grandly in Madurai.
The couple welcomed a baby boy this January, whom veteran actor Kamal Haasan named “Natchathiran”.
In addition to his immediate family, a young woman often seen at family events and widely believed to be Robo Shankar’s second daughter is, in fact, his niece.
The daughter of his brother Sivaraman, she has been living with the family for over eight years.
She once shared on social media that while she may have distanced from her own father, she had never left her uncle’s side.
Following his passing, she expressed her grief with a heartfelt message: “Love you, uncle.”
