Rangers owner Andrew Cavenagh will reportedly be coming to Glasgow from the USA to take “full control” of the growing crisis at Ibrox.

Boss Russell Martin is under intense pressure just weeks into his tenure after a winless start to the Premiership campaign that has left the club sitting tenth in the table.

The defeat to Hearts on Saturday was the final straw for some fans who unleashed a furious response to the boss – while fan group the Union Bears are set to stage a fresh protest ahead of the Premier Sports Cup clash with Hibs.

That follows the Rangers fan advisory board “forcibly challenging” Patrick Stewart and Kevin Thelwell over their call to back the boss amid a dismal start.

But Cavenagh – who owns the Glasgow giants alongside 49ers Enterprises – is set to tackle the raging support head on when he touches down in Scotland today (Thursday).

He is set to attend the cup clash with David Gray’s men – where he will come face-to-face with the furious protest outside of the stadium.

The Scottish Sun state the supremo will take “full control” of the escalating situation – having previously offered support to Martin behind closed doors.

Should the lacklustre start to the season continue with a Premier Sports Cup exit, it could test one of the 49ers golden rule they have put in place at Leeds United.

Amid speculation over Daniel Farke’s long-term future, Paraag Marathe took a vow of silence as he let the action play out on the pitch.

After lifting the English Championship title, the 49ers Enterprises president said: “I do have something to say and, and you know, I am someone who will speak when I have something to say and and when I feel like it’s the right time for me.

“I’m not one to respond because some random gossip paper wants to say something. I’m not going to make comments based on rumours and gossip.”

But defeat to Hibs could force the American owners or Cavenagh to go public on Martin – one way or the other.
