‘Didn’t Just See, I Lived’: Indian Woman Shows The Beauty Of Slow Travel In Viral Video

Travel content on Instagram is often filled with fast-paced itineraries, including “10 places to visit in 3 days” or “must-see spots you can’t miss.” But a viral video is offering something refreshingly different, a slower, more meaningful way to explore. The woman explored Ladakh and emphasised the importance of slow travel, which has now struck a chord with online viewers.
The woman revealed that she has been living in Ladakh for three weeks, yet hasn’t visited popular tourist spots like Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, or Hanle. In fact, she hasn’t even fully explored Leh, the region’s capital, where she has been staying.

Living Like A Local
So, what exactly has she been doing in the region? Simply living like a local. In the video, the vlogger explains, “I know where to find the best thukpa, coffee, and even chole kulche. I can find my way around town without Google Maps now. Shopkeepers smile and greet me like I belong here. My homestay bhaiya drops me on his bike like a brother. I know which café helps me focus the best for work and where to go when there’s no internet connection anywhere.”
For her, this slower pace of travel is not just about exploring landmarks but also about forming connections and collecting stories. “I don’t want just pretty pictures; I want stories and to become a part of them in every place that takes me in,” she says in the clip. And the ultimate wish? She mentioned, “One day, I hope to look back and say—I didn’t just see the world, I lived 100 different lives within it.”
Sharing the video, she wrote, “3 weeks in Ladakh! Many more to go. Slow travel for the win.”
Internet Shows Appreciation For Slow Travel
The video has resonated widely with viewers, sparking a conversation about the importance of slow travel. Showing appreciation for slow travel, a person wrote, “Slow travel is a luxury not everyone can afford. Those who can are truly blessed.”
Another had a query, “I, too, love this kind of travel. Can you please share where you stayed and other options, if any?”
An individual added, “I’ve lived there for three years and still haven’t seen every part! I absolutely loved the slow life there and exploring people, culture, history, and food!”
Someone else shared, “I chose to do the same, and I’m never able to explore a place in just a week. Thank you so much for sharing this.”
The Importance Of Embracing Slow Travel
Slow travel is more than just moving at a slower pace; it’s about changing how you see the world. Instead of rushing through busy itineraries, it encourages you to explore stories, soak in the culture and cuisine of the local region. It’s about strolling through markets, chatting with shopkeepers, sipping tea at the same café every morning and feeling like you belong, even if only for a while. You get to see the little details that most tourists miss. Not just that, it allows you to form connections, meaning and leave with stories that stay with you forever.
