Smith, 29, is facing charges of supplying dangerous drugs and using or disclosing inside knowledge for betting.
Police allege in court documents that Smith supplied cocaine at Currimundi — a suburb of Caloundra — on June 7.
His charge of using or disclosing inside knowledge for betting relates to allegations Smith “had inside knowledge of a sporting contingency”, a game between the Rabbitohs and Manly Sea Eagles, and “disclosed the inside knowledge to other persons for the purpose of the other person to make a relevant bet in relation to the said contingency”.
On Thursday Adam Moschella, acting as a town agent for Mr Smith’s legal team, told Southport Magistrates Court the matters were contested and asked for a three-week adjournment.
The court was told a bail undertaking would need to be signed, with a condition not to contact two people who were allegedly named in the text exchange, including Roosters star Victor Radley.
His appearance will be excused on the next occasion.
Magistrate Deborah Mitchell adjourned the matter to October 9.
Mr Smith did not make any comment to waiting media coming to and from court.
The betting allegations concern alleged text exchanges between Mr Smith two unnamed individuals, which police will allege in court disclose he supplied insider information for betting purposes.
Code Sports reports the alleged bets spoken about in the text messages did not prove to be successful.
Mr Smith is alleged to have told a friend he would be making his debut with the South Sydney Rabbitohs days before it was officially confirmed.
Police allege a day after the latter two text exchanges, Smith was announced as moving from the extended bench to starting.
