Company sponsors ATA MSC “Call on Washington,” driving reforms to protect families, support military service members, and strengthen accountability in the moving industry
WASHINGTON, Sept. 17, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Good Greek Moving & Storage Founder and CEO Spero Georgedakis represented Florida and the national moving industry in Washington, D.C., during the American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) Moving & Storage Conference (MSC) “Call on Washington,” held September 9th to 11th at ATA National Headquarters.
The annual policy summit convened federal lawmakers, regulatory leaders, and industry executives to confront the most pressing challenges in U.S. household goods transportation. As a newly elected member of the MSC Executive Committee, Georgedakis assumed a national leadership role, highlighting Good Greek’s dual position as both a trusted relocation provider and a driving advocate for safety and industry reform.
Good Greek Moving & Storage also served as a conference sponsor, reinforcing its mission to raise standards of safety, accountability, and consumer protection across the relocation sector.
“Moving is one of life’s biggest transitions, and it must be done with professionalism, safety, and integrity,” said Georgedakis. “In Washington, I was proud to elevate the voices of movers and consumers across the country, advocating for reforms that safeguard communities, support our military families, and strengthen trust in our industry. These reforms aren’t just about policy, they’re about preventing tragedies like the one we recently saw in South Florida, and ensuring every family can trust the safety of our highways.”
Capitol Hill Engagement
Georgedakis met with U.S. Senator Ashley Moody, U.S. Senator Rick Scott, Congressman Brian Mast, and Congresswoman Laurel Lee to drive progress on critical legislative priorities.
Delegates advanced a broad slate of priorities, including establishing uniform access standards at military bases to prevent delays in Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves and strengthening the Defense Personal Property Program (DP3) following the June 18, 2025, termination of the Global Household Goods (GHC) contract. Participants also supported the Household Goods Shipping Consumer Protection Act (H.R. 880/S. 337) to combat fraudulent movers and brokers and backed H. Res. 428 to designate May 2025 as “Moving Month,” recognizing the skilled workforce that drives the moving and storage sector. Delegates noted the industry’s scale: over 7.5 million Americans moved across state lines in 2023, helping power tens of billions in related economic activity each year.
Central to these discussions was Senator Moody’s Safer Truckers Act, which would require lawful U.S. residency and English proficiency for Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) issuance, and strengthen state compliance and reporting.
The urgency of this reform was underscored by the August 12, 2025 crash in St. Lucie County, Florida, where a tractor-trailer attempted an illegal U-turn on Florida’s Turnpike and was struck by a minivan, killing three people. Authorities have stated the driver, Harjinder Singh (28), entered the United States illegally in 2018; he held a commercial driver’s license and failed a post-crash English-language proficiency assessment. He faces three counts of vehicular homicide, and federal authorities have lodged an immigration detainer. The tragedy, occurring in South Florida, where Good Greek was founded, highlights why licensing standards and enforcement must keep pace with public-safety needs.
By amplifying these priorities, Georgedakis reinforced the moving industry’s role as a pillar of the American economy and an essential partner to military families and communities nationwide.
Expanding Nationally
While shaping policy in Washington, Good Greek Moving & Storage is simultaneously advancing its national growth strategy. Later this year, the company will launch operations in Las Vegas, Nevada, through a landmark partnership with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV Rebels) and the Vegas Golden Knights. Additional expansion into the Midwest is underway, extending the reach of Good Greek’s reliable, trustworthy, gold-standard Total Relocation Services nationwide.
These milestones reflect Good Greek’s evolution into both a policy leader and a nationwide provider, delivering unmatched quality, integrity, and trust to families and businesses across America.
