ConVal runs away with first win
The ConVal girls soccer team was on the front foot from the start, scoring four times in the first half en route to a 6-1 win over Laconia Tuesday on the road.
Emma O’Brien put the Cougars (1-3-1) out front in the 12th minute with a looping shot from outside the penalty box. Haley Mathewson made it 2-0 in the 30th minute after being sent in on a Clara Wilsher pass.
After Laconia made it 2-1, ConVal bounced back quickly with back-to-back goals from Wilsher in the 34th and 36th minutes to make it 4-1 going into the break.
O’Brien would also find the twine again in the second half, scoring off a Mathewson corner. Mathewson would also add a second tally, finding the net from 30 yards out to close the scoring.

Fall Mountain grabs second win
The Fall Mountain boys soccer team stacked together its second win of the season, shutting out Winnisquam 3-0 on Tuesday in Langdon.
The Wildcats opened the scoring when Lennon Doescher’s ball over the top found Carmine Bactad, who beat the goalkeeper.
Doescher added a goal of his own in the second half, finishing with his left foot from 20 yards out. Quinn Mitchell made it 3-0 with after a driving run sparked by a pass from Joseph Paulette.
The Wildcats (2-2-1) travel to Hopkinton on Thursday.
ConVal takes care of Laconia
The ConVal boys soccer remained unbeaten on the season, earning a breezy 6-0 win over Laconia Tuesday night in Peterborough.
Max Cail scored twice for the Cougars (4-0-1), while four other Cougars also scored. Sam Phelps and Favour Osasere notched their first goals of the season, while Paxton Lathrop and Brody Way also scored.
ConVal hosts Oyster River on Thursday.
Fall Mountain earns sweep at Hooper
The Fall Mountain golf team picked up a trio of wins, defeating Sunapee, Wilton-Lyndeborough and Woodsville on Tuesday at Hooper Golf Course.
The Wildcats (8-10) put up 75 points in the Stableford match, taking the narrow sweep over Sunapee, which finished with 72 points.
Fall Mountain’s Owen Tetu tied for medalist with 27 points, matching Sunapee’s Tyler Hughes. Perry Lent came in with 21 points for the Wildcats, followed by Carson Bruzgis (15 points) and Owen Nachajski (12 points).
Girls Cross Country
Keene High dominates at Nashua
The Keene High girls cross country took six of the top seven spots, running away with a tri-meet win over Nashua South and Bishop Guertin on Tuesday in Nashua.
Avery Harris led the way for the Blackbirds, earning her first high school cross country victory. Aylah King was second, followed by Leah Frost in fourth, both of whom posted personal bests. Keene’s top six was rounded out by Mariam Sturtz in fifth, Lauren Cowher in sixth and Lily Zadie in seventh.
Keene will compete Saturday at the Manchester Invitational.
