Xander Schauffele Has Best Reason Ever to Skip Ryder Cup Tune-Up in Napa

Nearly the entire American Ryder Cup team is in Napa Valley to play the Procore Championship as part of their Ryder Cup preparations. One of the absentees is Xander Schauffele, which sparked a lot of talk among fans. However, Schauffele himself put an end to the speculation and revealed that the reason for his absence is the best of all. His wife recently gave birth, and the two-time major champion is at home taking care of both of them. The information was reported by The Associated Press, which contacted Schauffele directly via text messages. When Schauffele’s absence from the Silverado Resort event was announced, many fans took to social media to remind him that the player had been far from his best for most of the season. He also spent several weeks out of the game due to a rib injury suffered late last year. It’s worth noting that, while Schauffele didn’t have the results of other seasons, he managed to make the cut in all 15 PGA Tour events he played. He finished in three top-10s, including a T7 at the Open Championship, his best finish of the year. The other absence from the American team at the Procore Championship is Bryson DeChambeau, who is prohibited from participating in PGA Tour events due to his commitment to LIV Golf. However, DeChambeau will be in Napa on Tuesday to participate in a dinner with his teammates.A player on the European side, Sepp Straka, is in a similar situation to Schauffele. His wife gave birth prematurely a few weeks ago, so he will be the only Team Europe player absent this week from the DP World Tour’s BMW PGA Championship. This will be Schauffele’s third Ryder Cup appearance. He made his debut in 2021 at Whistling Straits, where he contributed three points in four matches to the Americans’ victory. Two years later, he was at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome where he earned just one point in four matches and saw his team lose the Cup.Schauffele has won nine PGA Tour tournaments, including two major championships. He also has a Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medal on his resume.More Golf: Rory McIlroy’s Bold Walker Cup Message Sparks Ryder Cup Warning
