The UK faces one final mini-heatwave of the year within days – before the end of September – as hot weather returns. Weather maps and charts have burned bright orange on WX Charts, which uses Met Desk data for its projections. The predictions show an orange huge sweeping across counties including Suffolk, Norfolk, and Greater London. Other areas likely to be warm include Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, and Buckinghamshire. The best of the weather is likely to hit around September 25 and bring the thermometer up to 25C. In the short term, the Met Office expects showery rain clearing northern England through the morning. Feeling slightly warmer, with lighter winds than on Monday, the Met Office adds. Expect a dry evening across much of the UK, though rain moving into Northern Ireland, Wales and southwest England. The rain spreading to all but northeast Scotland come dawn. Blustery winds. Wednesday will bring with it a wet start for many, with the rain heavy in the west. Gradually turning drier and brighter for parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England. Remaining breezy for all. The outlook for Thursday to Saturday adds: ” Remaining unsettled through into the weekend, with areas of wind and rain likely. Staying rather windy, but feeling warm and humid in any sunnier breaks in the south.” The BBC Weather team adds: “This morning, central-northern England, south-west and far north Scotland will see scattered showers, most easing in the afternoon. Sunny spells around these but turning wet in the south-west late. “A band of heavy rain will sweep north and east tonight, affecting much of the UK but falling heavier in the west. North-east Scotland will escape dry albeit increasingly cloudy. Windy in the west. “Spells of showery rain will spread north-eastwards across the UK tomorrow, breaking to showers. Sunny spells will develop from the north Midlands to central-southern Scotland in the afternoon. Windy.”
