Why Cam'ron Kicking Broner Off His Show Went Viral

“This Is Real Masculinity”: The Internet Praises Cam’ron After Kicking Adrien Broner Off His Show For Flirting With Cohost
“We gon’ have to ask you to go.”
Cam’ron has long been praised as one of the realest rap veterans around. His career as a rapper began in the ’90s, and he skyrocketed to fame after cofounding the hip-hop collective Dipset.
Like many rap legends, Cam’ron has since transitioned his talents from music to content creation, namely via his vlog It Is What It Is, which focuses on sports news. The series is hosted by Cam, fellow NYC rap legend Mase, and Treasure “Stat Baby” Wilson.
It Is What It Is has become a cultural staple, mainly because it’s uncensored and gives very blunt (even sometimes a little rude) critiques of sports news that some of the more corporate outlets may not have the freedom to say.
Recently, Cam’ron invited boxing superstar Adrien Broner onto It Is What It Is as a guest to speak about the recent Canelo vs. Crawford fight that went down in Las Vegas.
During the episode, Broner repeatedly flirted with Stat Baby, as well as Arabia Tillery, a woman who works as an NFL analyst on the show.
“If that’s Arabia, I, Saudi,” Broner stated, before turning his attention to Stat baby.
“What you weigh, Stat?” he asked, before continuing. “I love you, I swear to God. Stat, could you stop smiling?” Broner, undeterred by the awkwardness in the room, then said, “I’m mesmerized by Stat.”
At first, Cam’ron and crew laughed it off and tried to change the topic. But after incessant flirting, he addressed the situation, warning Broner and resorting to “bro code” as a way to hopefully get through to the boxer, telling him that Stat’s boyfriend was on set and that he needed to quit the disrespect. Broner apologized, but continued to flirt.
Broner crossed the line yet again, saying, “I did not know you looked that good in person… you’re amazing.” That’s when Cam’ron had enough, and kicked Broner off the show.
“We gon’ have to ask you to go,” Cam stated. “I’ma pay you for your time for being here. I appreciate you, and I love you. I asked you the first time.” At that point, Broner started apologizing again, but Cam held his ground. After reminding him that he already warned him, Cam continued, “I don’t have no problems with you, but I’ma pay you for your time, but you can’t violate.”
Then, Cam pulls out a bag of cash he had for another bit in the show, pays Broner for his time, and asks him to leave politely.
“If you want to wait for us outside you could, but I’m not going to sit here and not value your time,” Cam said as he paid Broner for the interview.
You can watch the interaction here:
The internet heaped praise onto Cam’ron for standing up for Stat, and doing it in such a non-confrontational and stand-up way.
THIS!
Definitely very refreshing.
Say it louder for the men in the back!
I have honestly never seen a situation like this handled so smoothly.
Talk about it!
