Traffic Court Convictions in Basseterre

Basseterre, St. Kitts — September 11, 2025: The Basseterre Magistrate Court, presided over by His Honour Reynold Benjamin, handed down convictions in several traffic-related cases on Thursday.

1. Dikembe Morton (La Guerite) Morton was convicted on four charges stemming from offences committed on November 22, 2024:

Negligently obstructing the free flow of traffic

Failing to comply with the directions of a police officer

Resisting arrest

Failing to provide his name when requested by a police officer

Although he initially pleaded not guilty, Morton was found guilty on all counts. He was placed on a six-month bond to keep the peace. Failure to comply will result in a $5,000 fine or a term of imprisonment.

2. Alique Kenyatta Williams (Upper Monkey Hill) Williams pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention, an offence committed on May 10, 2024. He was fined $750, payable within one month, or face 30 days imprisonment.

Other Matters The court also addressed numerous ticket-related cases:

20 tickets were withdrawn after proof of payment was provided.

47 ticket matters and two accident cases were adjourned to future dates for trial.
