MMRV Vaccine Recommendations Modified by RFK Jr.'s CDC Panel

Federal vaccine advisers on Thursday recommended against giving the combined measles, mumps, rubella and varicella/chickenpox (MMRV) vaccine to children younger than 4, saying they should instead receive two separate shots. The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, assembled by vaccine skeptic Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., voted 8-3 to oppose use of the MMRV in younger children, but left unchanged guidance for the federal Vaccines for Children program, which allows low-income families to choose between the combination shot or separate injections. The panel postponed a separate vote on hepatitis B vaccines for newborns until Friday and is also set to take up Covid-19 vaccines. The group’s decisions now require sign-off from acting CDC chief Jim O’Neill. This is a breaking news article.
