A former family medicine doctor at a CHI Health Clinic in Lincoln this week pleaded guilty as charged to possession and distribution of child sex abuse images he downloaded online.
Jacob Smith, 34, faces a minimum of five years and up to 40 years in federal prison at his sentencing in December in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska.
According to prosecutors, Smith discussed sexually assaulting a child in messages sent to an undercover agent on the messaging app Kik.
When investigators got a warrant to search his electronic devices, they found more than 100 files of child sex abuse images on a Telegram account on Smith’s personal cellphone, according to court records.
