AKRON, Ohio – MAPCO, a U.S.-owned convenience store retailer, is planning grand opening celebrations for three of its stores in the Akron area.
The three stores are part of the company’s 35-store acquisition of former Circle K locations in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana, according to a news release. The newly acquired stores were divested by Circle K following the company’s acquisition of GetGo locations.
MAPCO said that it will work to retain most of the existing store leadership and staff, according to the release.
Store grand openings slated for the Akron area include:
Sept. 20 at 1693 W. Market St.
Sept. 27 at 641 W. Portage Trail Extension, Cuyahoga Falls
Oct. 11 at 1830 Waterloo Rd.
Grand opening celebrations include offering fuel at a promotional price of $1.99 per gallon from noon to 2 p.m. at each store on its grand opening date.
MAPCO will also make a $1,000 charitable donation at each grand opening event to a local nonprofit organization. The Sept. 20 grand opening donation will benefit Red Oak Behavioral Health, highlighting the company’s alignment with Red Oak’s mission of advancing mental health and wellness for youths and families.
About the brand
MAPCO’s mission is to offer “convenience you can count on,” which the company describes as a coming together of quality, value and community engagement, according to the release.
Refreshed stores will offer enhanced food and beverage offerings, including coffees from Costa Coffee, according to the release.
“We are excited to establish a strong presence in the Midwest, and we’re especially proud to do so as a U.S.-owned company. Our team has worked hard to welcome talented local staff into the MAPCO family and ensure a seamless transition. These grand openings are not just about business, they are about building relationships and investing in youth-serving nonprofit organizations that make a difference every day. We’re here to be more than a convenience store, we’re here to be a good neighbor,” Director of Corporate Programs John Gynnip said in the release.
