Akwa Ibom ADC Chair Declares War On Corruption, Flags Off Rescue Agenda

The Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rt. Hon. Duke Dick, has vowed that the newly inaugurated ADC Coalition Party will rescue citizens from what he called “fraudulent and dehumanizing governance” that has left Nigerians in misery.

Speaking at the official unveiling of the coalition in Uyo, Dick said the movement goes beyond party politics, describing it as “a covenant with the people and a mission to restore dignity and hope” after years of neglect by successive governments.

“This is not governance, this is betrayal,” he declared. “From local council offices to the presidency, leaders have consistently chosen personal enrichment over the welfare of the people. ADC has come to put an end to this era of greed and corruption.”

He condemned the worsening cost of living, rising unemployment among graduates, decayed healthcare, and the diversion of local government allocations. He pointed to reports of women dying during childbirth in ill-equipped hospitals, contrasting it with politicians’ habit of flying abroad for medical care at public expense.

Outlining the coalition’s blueprint, the ADC chairman promised prudent management of resources, grassroots development, industrial growth, agricultural revival, and youth empowerment. He emphasized deliberate inclusion of women in governance, insisting they would no longer be confined to campaign rallies but occupy decision-making positions.

“Every kobo will be accounted for. Our schools will be restored, our hospitals will deliver care, our young people will find opportunities, and no community will be left behind,” he pledged.

He called on supporters to spread the party’s message across all wards and local councils, fly the party’s flag proudly, and mobilize for what he described as “a collective journey from suffering to hope.”

Also speaking, coalition partner Senator John James Udoedehe warned against the danger of Nigeria drifting into a one-party state. He argued that a democracy without alternatives invites instability, recalling his earlier prediction that both the PDP and APC would fail the people.

“For democracy to survive, Nigerians must have viable choices,” Udoedehe said, stressing that the ADC represents the fresh political force capable of delivering the rescue the nation needs.
