A Ghanaian egg vendor has expressed her concern about the relationship her business has with the current price of fuel in the country.
During an interview, the vendor stated that the rising cost of fuel had significantly affected the profits she usually gets from her business.
She explained that after purchasing a crate of eggs, her profit margin would only be between GH₵25 and GH₵30. She claimed that the profit has reduced because she uses cooking gas to boil the eggs she sells.
When asked what message she had for the Ghanaian government, she made a simple but heartfelt appeal.
She stated that she wanted the ruling government and authorities to implement measures that would help small business owners like her and hoped for a better economic environment that would allow her to make enough profit to properly care for her family.
“We want them to help us so that we can also get some profit to take care of our families. We want things to be a bit better.”
Her comments have reflected the direct impact of operational costs, like fuel, on the narrow profit margins of street vendors.

COPEC and COMAC project fuel price increase
YEN.com.gh understands that fuel prices in Ghana were projected to rise from Tuesday, September 16, 2025, according to COPEC and COMAC.
Petrol was expected to increase by 3.98% from GH¢13.09 to GH¢13.61, diesel by 9.41% from GH¢13.32 to GH¢14.08, and LPG by 7.65% to GH¢12.52 per kilogramme.
The cedi’s 8.62% depreciation against the US dollar was cited as the main cause of the hikes. COPEC urged oil marketing companies to absorb part of the increase by reducing their margins to ease the burden on consumers.

Man praises President Mahama over fuel price
YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that a Ghanaian man switched his political allegiance after receiving more petrol for less money under President John Mahama’s leadership.
In the trending video, the excited man renounced his membership with the New Patriotic Party, knelt in gratitude, and openly praised Mahama and the National Democratic Congress.
The man claimed he purchased five litres of petrol for GH₵40. His remarks came just before the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review, with many Ghanaians sharing their experiences in reply.
