Disney making huge return to the Bullring in 'unique' and 'special' project

It’s been four years since it closed its shop in Birmingham’s Bullring , but the magic of Disney is set to return to the shopping centre. Disney has confirmed a special partnership with Selfridges, with plans to transform it into a ‘festive wonderland filled with stardust’ for Christmas 2025. The exciting collaboration will see ‘enchanting’ Disney window displays, specially-commissioned fashion pieces, unique gifts and collaborations. There will also be two special Disney spins on the iconic Selfridges yellow shopping bags, including one with Mickey’s ears. The collaboration has been announced to coincide with the 100-day countdown to December 25 and it’s not just Birmingham that will be made over. The London branch of Selfridges will be transformed with a special Disney facade and Manchester is being made over by Disney too. The campaign is titled ‘The Most Magical Christmas’ and Selfridges says it’s been two years in the making. Inspired by timeless Disney stories and characters, it says it hopes to ‘bring a sense of nostalgia and playfulness’ to customers, with Birmingham shoppers invited to ’embrace the joys of childhood’ with Disney reminding them: “You’re never too old to be young.” The Most Magical Christmas will launch in Birmingham on Thursday, November 6. André Maeder, Selfridges group chief executive officer, said: “We’re full of excitement for this collaboration, bringing Selfridges and Disney together for a Christmas like no other. “With a shared history of imagination and creativity it’s been a joy to dream up something this unique and special, working with some of the world’s best storytellers. “We can’t wait to reveal more and share the magic with our customers.” Tasia Filippatos, global president of Disney Consumer Products, added: “At Disney, we believe in the enduring power of storytelling to inspire joy, wonder, and connection – especially during the holiday season. “Our collaboration with Selfridges allows us to share the magic of Disney through imaginative window displays, festive experiences, and unique products – all inspired by the stories that have captured hearts for generations.” Selfridges has launched an online Disney Christmas store in anticipation of the festive season so shoppers can get some idea of what to expect from the collaboration.
