We’re already heading into Week 3 of the NFL season, and the NFL Fantasy Football landscape is already taking shape.
Some big names have had a slow start to the season, making fantasy managers question whether they were worth the high draft picks. Other, more looked-over players have broken out as fantasy stars, poised for a surprising season.
Here’s who you should start and sit for your Week 3 Fantasy Football matchup.
Quarterbacks
Start – Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers (vs DEN)
Justin Herbert has been a star for the Los Angeles Chargers so far this season, throwing for 560 yards and five touchdowns with zero interceptions after two games.
The Chargers host the Denver Broncos at SoFi Stadium on Sunday afternoon, and could run riot over their defense, who have struggled so far this season despite being touted as one of the best units heading into the new year.
Herbert scored 26.2 fantasy points in Week 16 against Denver last season, and should put up another big day this weekend.
Sit – Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins (at BUF)
Tua Tagovailoa bounced back in Week 2 with 22.6 fantasy points after putting up just 7.3 in the Miami Dolphins season opener, but we’re expecting him to regress once again in Week 3 against the Super Bowl contender Buffalo Bills.
Tagovailoa has averaged just 15.0 points over his last seven meetings with the Bills, and considering how bad the Dolphins have looked on both sides of the ball this season, you might want to leave Tua out of your lineup this week.
Running Backs
Start – Jordan Mason, Minnesota Vikings (vs CIN)
The Minnesota Vikings placed Aaron Jones on injured reserve this week, with the starting running back set to miss the next four games with a hamstring injury.
Fourth-year man Jordan Mason is set to step into the Vikings’ starting running back role, and could have a great week against a Cincinnati Bengals that has struggled to stop the run so far this year.
He’s already had a nice start to his season, splitting carries with Jones, putting up 98 yards on 24 carries and making three receptions for 15 yards.
Sit – David Montgomery, Detroit Lions (at BAL)
David Montgomery had a productive Week 2 against the Chicago Bears with 11 carries for 57 yards and a touchdown, but he and the Detroit Lions might hit a wall this week in the form of the Baltimore Ravens.
The Ravens have allowed just one rushing touchdown so far this season, and are likely to win the battle in the trenches and clog up any lanes for the Lions’ backfield duo. Jahmyr Gibbs could still be useful in this matchup, but Montgomery might be relegated to more of a receiving role on Monday night.
Wide Receivers
Start – Jakobi Meyers, Las Vegas Raiders (at WAS)
Jakobi Meyers has been a gem for the Las Vegas Raiders so far this season, racking up 14 receptions for 165 yards and averaging 15.3 fantasy points per game in the first two weeks.
Meyers should get plenty of targets once again against the Washington Commanders, and there’s little reason to believe there will be a drop in his output.
Sit – Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints (at SEA)
Chris Olave has been busy through the first two weeks of the 2025 NFL season, but his 13 receptions on 23 targets for 108 yards has been slightly underwhelming for fantasy owners.
The New Orleans Saints will be on the road in Seattle this weekend, and the Seahawks did a good job of nullifying the passing game against San Francisco and Pittsburgh.
Quarterback Spencer Rattler might struggle in that environment, and Olave is likely to feel the repercussions of those struggles.
Tight End
Start – Jake Ferguson, Dallas Cowboys (at CHI)
Fantasy owners should ride with Jake Ferguson after a strong Week 2 showing in which he caught nine passes for 78 yards against the Giants.
The Dallas Cowboys are traveling to Chicago this weekend, and with the Bears as vulnerable as any team in the league right now, there’s little doubt that Dak Prescott will look for Ferguson plenty of times.
Sit – Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens (vs DET)
Mark Andrews has arguably been the most disappointing fantasy player so far this season, averaging a measly 1.5 fantasy points through his first two weeks of action.
Andrews only has two receptions for seven yards on just four targets. He is a go-to target for Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in the redzone, and he’s always a threat to get a touchdowb, but the Lions have been good against tight ends this season, limiting them to just six catches and 51 yards.
Defense
Start – Seattle Seahawks (vs NO)
The Seattle Seahawks will welcome the New Orleans Saints to Lumen Field on Sunday, and all signs point to this being a bloodbath.
The Seahawks allowed less than 20 points in both of their first two games of the new season, and are up against an inexperiened Spencer Rattler with a lack of real offensive weapons around him.
Sit – Los Angeles Rams (at PHI)
The Los Angeles Rams’ defense has looked really good so far this season, holding the Titans to 19 points and the Texans to just nine in Week 1.
But Sean McVay’s squad faces the defending champs in Philadelphia this weekend, which is a huge step above the previous two offenses they’ve faced this season. The Eagles have not turned the ball over yet in 2025, and have only given up three sacks.
This is the week to leave the Rams’ D on the sidelines and plug in an alternate option.
