Human Resources play a key role and thus become a strategic strength in making India a global leader on the innovation and research front, said G. Satheesh Reddy, former chairman of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and currently an honorary advisor to the State government on aerospace and defence manufacturing hub.
Participating virtually in the second edition of ‘Innovation and R&D Conclave’ organised by the Andhra Pradesh chapter of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Tirupati on Thursday (September 18), he predicted Andhra Pradesh to be at the forefront in becoming the ‘Global Innovation Capital’.
The ace scientist urged the industry to dream of making India the next innovation hub of the world and highlighted that research and innovation had the power to change things. Dr. Reddy also encouraged the youth to develop state-of-the-art products that are both high in quality and cost-effective for the world.
Bhaskar Katamneni, Secretary (IT, Electronics and Communications), in his virtual address, spoke on the government’s policies in the context of ‘AI Development’ in Andhra Pradesh. The government launched the ‘Innovation and Startup Policy 4.0 for 2024-2029, aiming to foster entrepreneurship, create 20,000 startups and generate one lakh jobs over the next five years.
The Ratan Tata Innovation Hub (RTIH) established in Amaravati, supported by five regional centres in Rajamahendravaram, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Anantapur, would promote innovation focussing on IoT, AI, rural innovation, maritime shipping, biotech and medical devices, he explained.
Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati (IIT-T) director K.N. Satyanarayana set the context for the conclave, while CII-AP Past Chairman J.S.R.K. Prasad spoke on Andhra Pradesh government’s measures in integrating AI into governance frameworks, encompassing intelligent agriculture, public health and citizen services (through WhatsApp).
CII Southern Region Past-Chairman C.K. Ranganathan and CII-AP former chairman D. Ramakrishna and others took part.
