TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Erick Thohir, Indonesia’s newly inaugurated Minister of Youth and Sports, has yet to determine whether he will continue serving as Chairman of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI).He said he would leave the decision to the world football governing body, FIFA, following his official inauguration on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.“There is a process at FIFA. FIFA is the highest sports authority in the world. They will make the decision,” Erick said at the State Palace.Erick acknowledged that it remains unclear whether a Minister of Youth and Sports can simultaneously hold the PSSI chairmanship. For now, he will follow FIFA’s regulations. “Let FIFA decide,” he added when asked whether he might step down from PSSI.President Prabowo Subianto officially appointed Erick as Minister of Youth and Sports this Wednesday evening.
