Come Back To Me' Documentary Acquired By CJ 4DPLEX

EXCLUSIVE: CJ 4DPLEX has acquired worldwide rights to The Rose: Come Back to Me, a documentary about the South Korean indie rock band The Rose, which has grown into a global music sensation. The announcement made by CJ 4DPLEX chief executive Jun Bang comes a couple of days before the film’s international premiere at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea.
CJ 4DPLEX, a division of the CJ Group, plans a 2026 global theatrical release for the documentary directed by Eugene Yi (Free Chol Soo Lee). It premiered at Tribeca Festival in June, where the film was named a top audience favorite.
“Featuring immersive live performances, behind-the-scenes stories, and heartfelt interviews, the documentary captures The Rose’s unwavering passion for music and the strength of their teamwork,” notes a release. “This compelling film showcases the band’s deep creative involvement from songwriting to stage direction.”
The band, which performs songs in English and Korean, consists of Kim Woosung on vocals and guitar, Park Dojoon (vocals, guitar, keyboard), Lee Hajoon (drums, backup vocals), and Lee Taegyeom (bass, backup vocals).
“We are thrilled to be part of the inspiring journey of The Rose,” said Bang, CEO of CJ 4DPLEX. “Leveraging our extensive global theater network, we are committed to bringing this exceptional documentary to theaters worldwide and reaching the broadest possible audience.”
The Rose: Come Back to Me is produced by by Diane Quon (Minding the Gap), Marginal MediaWorks’ Sanjay M. Sharma and Milan Chakraborty (Cypher), HYBE AMERICA’s James Shin, and Wavelength’s Joe Plummer (Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, Rather).
“Knowing how dominant Korean culture is globally – from K-Pop Demon Hunters to Parasite – international audiences are all eager to go deeper and learn more,” said Quon and Sharma on behalf of the film’s producing team. “The Rose is as much a music doc as it is a coming-of-age story – about a group of friends finding their own way through the world. It’s a story of heartbreak and healing, conformity, and individuality, and ultimately about the transformative power of music around the world. We are humbled to have the world’s preeminent Korean entertainment company, CJ, partner with us to bring the film to global audiences – in theaters – through the unique power of 4DPLEX.”
CJ 4DPLEX describes itself as “a leading, next-generation cinema technology company… The company has created innovative film technologies for theaters worldwide that include SCREENX, 4DX, and Ultra 4DX for consumers to experience films in ways that were never before possible.”
CJ 4DPLEX’s corporate sibling, CJ ENM (CJ Entertainment & Media), produced Oscar Best Picture winner Parasite, directed by Bong Joon Ho.
The Rose: Come Back to Me is a production of Quonco Productions, Marginal MediaWorks, and HYBE AMERICA, and presented by Wavelength in association with Brevity Films, Janet Yang Productions and Artemis Rising Foundation.
