Uzbekistan has sufficient opportunities to eliminate poverty in accordance with international standards by 2030. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this today, September 17, at the third international forum ’’From poverty to prosperity,’’ held in Namangan to discuss poverty reduction.
The President emphasized that the introduction of the ’’neighborhood-based’’ system, which involves working at the grassroots level of society, has fully justified itself.
It was noted that sufficient resources have been allocated to work with each household and family on an individual plan to increase their income. Every year, $2.5–3 billion is directed toward improving neighborhoods, enhancing people’s living conditions, and developing entrepreneurial infrastructure.
To boost rural incomes, 235,000 hectares of cotton and grain fields were reduced, and a new mechanism was introduced to allocate 30–50-acre plots of land to citizens. This step has played an important role in increasing the income of 800,000 people.
With the support of leading entrepreneurs, a system has been established for planting high-yield crops on household plots and ensuring their guaranteed purchase.
’’In short, people are already feeling in their daily lives that a business environment has entered every mahalla and prosperity has reached every family. Thanks to such large-scale efforts, Uzbekistan is striving to fulfill ahead of schedule its commitment to halving poverty by 2030.
By 2030, according to international standards, we have every opportunity to completely eliminate absolute poverty in Uzbekistan,’’ the President said.
