Al-Jiwan KG for Early Intervention provides education, therapeutic rehabilitation, and specialised programmes to support children with disabilities aged 3 to 6.
Qatar has taken a significant step in inclusive education with the official opening of Al-Jiwan KG for Early Intervention, the country’s first government-run kindergarten dedicated to children with special needs and early learning challenges.
The inauguration was held at Al-Jiwan KG for Early Intervention under the patronage of Lolwah Al-Khater, Minister of Education and Higher Education, and attended by Buthaina Al Nuaimi, Minister of Social Development and Family, alongside HMC Director General Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Suwaidi, and other senior officials, educators, and healthcare experts.
In her opening remarks, Al-Khater emphasised the importance of integrating education and health services for young learners, stating, “This national initiative embodies an ambitious vision and a solid partnership between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Hamad Medical Corporation. A partnership that reaffirms that education and health are two complementary wings in the service of our students”.
She described the inauguration as “a renewal of our state’s pledge that every child should have full access to education and care, especially children with special needs,” adding that “education is a fundamental right from which no one should be excluded, regardless of the challenges they may face in life or their educational journey”.
Al-Khater further highlighted the Ministry’s broader commitment, noting, “The Ministry of Education and Higher Education believes that its responsibility towards students with special needs goes beyond merely providing facilities; it extends to empowering them, fostering their independence, and ensuring true inclusion from the early years of childhood”.
Al-Jiwan KG for Early Intervention is a government educational and rehabilitative institution targeting children with disabilities aged three to six years.
The kindergarten combines education with therapeutic rehabilitation under one roof, providing a unique national model that aims to enhance children’s abilities for smooth integration into mainstream schooling.
It also supports families in optimally guiding their children and improving their long-term academic and personal outcomes.
The kindergarten offers specialised programmes including early intervention for students with special educational needs, post-cochlear implant rehabilitation with individual and group sessions to improve speech and communication, and pre-inclusion support focusing on motor, language, and social development.
The school is led by a multidisciplinary team of educational and rehabilitative professionals, ensuring comprehensive support for children and families.
As Qatar’s first government-operated kindergarten to integrate education with therapeutic rehabilitation, Al-Jiwan KG for Early Intervention represents a pioneering national effort to give children with disabilities a fair start in life and greater opportunities for success.
The initiative reflects the country’s commitment to building an inclusive, supportive, and future-ready education system.
As Minister of Educatioon and Higher Education stressed that “education in Qatar is inclusive for all, without exception, and the integration of national institutions is the strongest path towards building a robust and thriving educational system.”
