TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – At least 13 Palestinians were killed and several others injured on Wednesday in an Israeli army attack targeting a vehicle carrying a refugee family near the entrance of Al-Shifa Hospital in the western part of Gaza City, as revealed by medical sources and eyewitnesses.Sources, as reported by Xinhua and cited by Antara, said an Israeli drone targeted the vehicle as the family attempted to flee southward, killing most of the people inside. The injured victims and bodies were taken to the hospital.The attack followed a similar one on Tuesday when another vehicle carrying a refugee family in the western part of Gaza City was attacked, resulting in the deaths of five people and several others being injured after the car caught fire, according to Gaza health authorities.Residents stated that Israeli forces have intensified air and ground operations in Gaza City and its surroundings in recent days, prompting thousands of Palestinian civilians to flee southward amid worsening humanitarian conditions marked by shortages of medical supplies, fuel, and food.The Israeli military, or IDF, admitted that its forces have commenced operations in the Gaza City area. “The troops are eliminating terrorists and dismantling military structures used by terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip,” claimed the IDF.They added that in the past two days, air and artillery strikes have targeted over 150 “terrorist targets” throughout Gaza City to support ground operations.Israel resumed its intensive military operations in the region on March 18.
