The Prince and Princess of Wales have shared a behind-the-scenes look at all the pomp and ceremony which took place at Windsor Castle during the first day of Donald Trump’s state visit.
The slick, glossy video was shared across their official social media platforms, along with the caption: “A day to remember in Windsor for the State Visit of @POTUS.”

Meanwhile, Donald Trump delivered some gushing praise for the King as he was officially farewelled from Windsor Castle on Thursday morning, UK time.
The US President and his wife, Melania Trump, were given a lavish welcome to the royal premises on Wednesday by the monarch, Queen Camilla, and Prince William and Kate, which culminated with an glitzy state banquet.

The Trumps then spent the night at the historic castle.
Just after 10am, UK time, on Thursday, the King and Trump emerged from the main entrance, where they were seen sharing a warm, albeit brief, final chat before the president’s departure.
“He’s a great gentleman and a great King,” Trump told nearby media as he got into “the Beast” – a custom-built, highly-secure Cadillac which serves as his official state car.

It whisked him a short distance away to the private park where his Marine One helicopter was waiting to transport him on the 15-minute journey to Chequers – the British Prime Ministe’s country residence – where he is meeting with Keir Starmer.

Trump’s departure means the baton has now been handed over from the royals to the government, with the critical political portion of the state visit now underway.
Trump and Starmer have had lunch together and are discussing trade and foreign affairs, including policy on Ukraine and Israel, during their meeting.
They are expected to hold a joint press conference early afternoon, UK time.
The regal activities of Wednesday have been hailed a success across the board, with the president describing the ceremonies as one of the “highest honours” of his life.

Now, it’s up to the British prime minister to see if that goodwill has extended through diplomatic US-UK negotiations, with difficult topics on the table.
Meanwhile, the First Lady remained at Windsor to be given a tour by Queen Camilla of the famous and iconic Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House – the largest of its kind in the world – and the Royal Library.
