Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Anil Baluni shared a chilling video from Uttarakhand’s disaster-hit region, showing a massive landslide occurring as he was standing on the stretch. Baluni, who has been visiting affected areas amid the ongoing crisis triggered by incessant rainfall and cloudbursts, said the devastation has left “deep wounds” on the state that will take time to heal. In a post on social media, the Rajya Sabha MP wrote that the frightening visuals reflect the scale of the natural disaster Uttarakhand is enduring. “This year’s heavy rainfall and landslides in Uttarakhand have inflicted such deep wounds that it will take a long time for them to heal. I am sharing a with you a terrifying scene of a landslide from the disaster-affected area. The visuals themselves show the severity of the natural calamity that our Uttarakhand is going through at this time,” Baluni posted on X. “I pray to Baba Kedarnath for the safety, good health and prosperity of all people. In this hour of disaster, I wholeheartedly appreciate the service and dedication of all officials, the NDRF–SDRF personnel, the administration, and the workers who, despite difficult circumstances, are tirelessly engaged in clearing debris from the roads,” he added. Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh have been worst-hit by deadly natural calamities over the past couple of months. The cloudbursts and heavy rains left 15 people dead, 16 missing, and more than 900 stranded in Uttarakhand, while in Himachal Pradesh, more than 1,500 families have been rendered homeless since the monsoon’s onset on June 20. The Himalayan state witnessed 46 cloudbursts, 98 flash floods and 145 major landslides, according to PTI. A fresh cloudburst wreaked havoc in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district on Thursday. A cloudburst struck the Nandanagar Ghat area in Chamoli district in the late hours of Wednesday, September 17. At least six houses were buried under debris in the Kuntri Langafali ward of Nandanagar, the district magistrate said. Seven people were inside the houses at the time of the landslide, two of whom were rescued alive, while five are still missing.
