Jamie Carragher Drops Verdict After Alexander Isak Makes Liverpool Debut

Liverpool centre-forward Alexander Isak made his debut for his new club on Wednesday night in the Champions League at Anfield, with the Merseyside club securing a late win against Atletico Madrid, and former defender Jamie Carragher has given his verdict on the Swedish striker’s performance.
Isak made the move to Liverpool from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window after a long, perhaps controversial saga that saw the former Borussia Dortmund man go on strike to try and secure an exit. Isak got what he wanted in the end, with Liverpool breaking their transfer record to secure his signature and bring him to Anfield.
The Reds also brought in Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, so there’s plenty of competition for places in attack in Arne Slot’s side. If Isak can continue the form he’s produced during his time at Newcastle, then he’s likely to be the main man for Liverpool, and their supporters got a taste of what he’s about on Wednesday night.
Jamie Carragher Drops Liverpool Verdict on Alexander Isak
Speaking on CBS Sports after Liverpool’s victory over Atletico, former defender Carragher delivered his verdict on Isak’s debut performance. Carragher suggested that he had plenty of lovely touches, and he’s different to Erling Haaland given what he can produce outside of scoring goals…
“You know what, he didn’t score, but had plenty of lovely touches. When the ball comes into him, you see the way he turns there. He’s really clever. Thierry [Henry] knows this better than anyone, he’s not just a goalscorer. That’s why he’s different to Haaland. Haaland’s all about goals. He’s doing things, turning, getting on the ball, he’s a fantastic player, not just a great goalscorer.”
