Crucial upcoming divisional matchup for Los Angeles Rams just got a little easier following latest NFL injury news

George Kittle will miss matchup vs. Rams in Week 5

Kittle injured his hamstring during San Francisco’s Week 1 17-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks. This is yet another major blow to the 49ers’ offense, which has been depleted by injuries ever since training camp. However, it’s possible that the 49ers get wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk back for their matchup against the Rams. Aiyuk is currently on the Physically Unable to Perform list, but the first week he is eligible to return is Week 5 against Los Angeles.Still, the 49ers would probably rather have Kittle than Aiyuk if they had the choice. Kittle is the heart and soul of their passing attack, recording over 1,000 receiving yards in each of his last two seasons. Quarterback Brock Purdy has thrown more completions to Kittle than any other San Francisco pass catcher.

This is a golden opportunity for Los Angeles, as the 49ers’ passing attack is very lackluster without Kittle. The Rams’ defense can now zone in on San Francisco’s rushing attack, which is led by Christian McCaffrey and Brian Robinson Jr. With this game being on a short week, the less playmakers that L.A. has to spend time preparing for, the better.Getting a win in their first matchup with S.F. will go a long way in determining the NFC West. It will be a home matchup for the Rams, who will be coming off another home game against the Indianapolis Colts just four days before. L.A. will then go on a two-game road trip in the AFC against the Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars.
