IndiGo, India’s largest airline, has signed a long-term maintenance agreement with global aerospace company Thales to support its expanding fleet, the companies said in a statement on Wednesday. The deal covers IndiGo’s existing 430 Airbus A320 aircraft and a future order of over 800 A32X aircraft. Under the 11-year agreement, Thales will provide repair services for IndiGo’s avionics systems through its ‘Avionics-By-The-Hour’ and ‘Repair-By-The-Hour’ programmes. These solutions are designed to ensure that critical components are always available, helping the airline minimise downtime and keep more planes in the air. Repairs will be carried out at Thales’s newly opened avionics MRO facility in Gurugram, close to Delhi airport. The centre is equipped with advanced repair technology and staffed by specialised technicians, aimed at supporting the increasing demand for aviation maintenance in India.Live EventsIndiGo has also renewed a five-year contract with AvioBook, a Thales company, to continue using its Electronic Flight Bag solution, AvioBook Flight. Approved by India’s aviation regulator DGCA for paperless cockpit operations, the system is already in use across IndiGo’s entire fleet. The airline said the solution has cut paper use significantly and streamlined daily operations on more than 2,000 flights. Parichay Datta, Senior Vice-President of Engineering at IndiGo, said, “We are pleased to partner with Thales, a leading aerospace company trusted worldwide for its expertise in avionics support, to augment IndiGo’s maintenance and repairs capabilities. With IndiGo’s growing scale and fleet, this association aligns with our commitment to offer a hassle-free and safe flying experience to our customers, while ensuring operational excellence and reliability.” Thomas Got, Vice President of Aviation Global Services at Thales, said, “This strategic partnership with IndiGo underscores our commitment to delivering airline world-class avionics support and services. Our new MRO facility in India increases Thales’s ability to provide a swift, reliable service, backed by the power of our global organisation, to meet the evolving demands of the Indian aviation industry.”Add as a Reliable and Trusted News Source Add Now!
