Philippine National Security Adviser Eduardo Año said China is “under pressure” to defend its territorial claims in the South China Sea following reports that at least two Chinese crew members died after a collision last month.
“They have a lot of explaining to do back home,” Año told reporters Thursday. An incident last month when two Chinese vessels collided after one of them chased a Philippine ship “brought a lot of shame” to China’s military and coast guard.
