A Birmingham mum tragically told she only has ‘months to live’ has seen her poem in memory of Ozzy Osbourne turned into a rock song.
Ellen Underwood’s poem to the late Black Sabbath frontman inspired her turn her words into a song – ‘Legends Never Die’ – which has been released on all major music platforms.
The 57-year-old told BirminghamLive it would be a “dying wish come true” if the catchy rock tune, which she wrote the lyrics for, reached number one in the charts.

Huge Ozzy fan Ellen, who has promised to donate a percentage of the profits to the three charities chosen by Black Sabbath for their final gig in July if the song is successful, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020.
The former holistic therapist was sadly forced to close her “thriving business” last year when her cancer spread.
“I now have widespread bone cancer which was diagnosed in December 2023,” the mum-of-two told BirminghamLive.
“My consultant cancelled an important scan and forgot to rebook it in 2020…so I’m mainly bedbound at home now.
“I have been told [by doctors] that I have between two and six months left to live. My heart is breaking for my children.”
Ellen, from Northfield, has always enjoyed writing poetry so she thought she’d see if she could get her art turned into music.
“I wrote a poem for Ozzy after he died and had it put to music with the help of a music friend,” said Ellen who was unfortunately too ill to say farewell to the Prince of Darkness in Broad Street two months ago.
“I was too ill to get there to say goodbye to Ozzy but my husband laid flowers for me at the bench,” added Ellen.
The song, which was created under the AI band ‘Starplane’, includes lyrics such as ‘legends never die’ and they ‘burn like a flame’.
“I’d love for it to reach number one,” added Ellen who can’t stop crying over Ozzy’s death, but says she’s happy he’s ‘with Randy Rhoads again’.
“I’m desperate to get it out there and recognised to make my dying wish come true. I’d love it to reach number one.
“I want to be able to leave money behind for children – but I also want to donate money to Acorns Children’s Hospice, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Cure Parkinson’s like Black Sabbath did at Back to the Beginning if the song does well.
“I’m also saving up money to make two albums worth of songs from poetry I’ve written. As I’m bedbound, all I can do really is write and sit at the end of it and play guitar, which I started learning 12 months ago.
“My friend, who owns a shop in Glastonbury, said they would sell my CDs for me when I get them produced.”
