SISA Lunch & Learn Event Fosters Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration for Senior Government Officials in St. Kitts and Nevis
Basseterre, St. Kitts, 17 September 2025 – Today, the Ministry of Environment, Climate Action, and Constituency Empowerment hosted a Lunch and Learn session focused on the Sustainable Island State Agenda – an engaging opportunity designed to inspire conversation and shared commitments on advancing and achieving the success of the SISA.
This session aims to establish an open channel for knowledge assessment, information sharing, and cross-ministry planning on the Federation’s sustainability agenda and its accompanying priorities. The exercise marks the first in a series of upcoming public outreach activities on the SISA following its official Milestone Promotion in May 2025 and signals a shift in the Ministry’s approach to engagement – both internally and with the wider public – on the Agenda.
The event brought together senior public officials, consultants, and stakeholders over an immersive agenda that paired a shared meal with structured discussions on the progress and future direction of the SISA’s Pillars of Progress. The session opened with Mrs Colincia Levine, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Climate Action and Constituency Empowerment, delivering welcoming remarks and framing the importance of the SISA in guiding the nation’s progressive, sustainable development.
Attendees then participated in an introductory session, where interactions with each other as well as members of the SISA Advisory Consultancy team (led by Ms Sharon Rattan, SISA Coordinating Consultant) were facilitated, setting the stage for candid, inclusive conversation throughout the afternoon.
Review of Progress and Key Findings
Ms Rattan presented the findings of a recent survey conducted with stakeholders, capturing perspectives on SISA’s achievements and challenges so far. Following this, Mrs Levine guided participants through the SISA Executive Summary and Pillar Snapshots, offering a clear overview of the agenda’s structure and measurable progress under each pillar.
Guided Pillar Discussion: Energy Security
The interactive segment of the session was guided by Dr Devon Gardiner, SISA Consultant, who led an in-depth discussion on Pillar 1: Energy Transition. Current and planned actions were presented to spark cross-Ministry dialogue on synergies, shared responsibilities, and the alignment of broader government policies. This exchange highlighted the interconnected nature of SISA’s pillars and underscored opportunities for integrated solutions across sectors.
Reflection and Call to Action
Mr Linkon Maynard, SISA Consultant, facilitated a reflection exercise, encouraging participants to internalise the discussions and identify practical ways they could support holistic and scalable implementation within their respective Ministries and remits.
The session culminated in a powerful Call to Action from the Honourable Dr Joyelle Clarke, Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment, Climate Action, and Constituency Empowerment, who urged participants to embrace our SISA as a shared roadmap for national, homegrown progress, stressing the critical role of collective ownership and action.
Participants concluded the event with a post-survey exercise designed to capture feedback on the day’s discussions. The results, together with the insights from the guided discussions, will inform the next phase of SISA implementation planning and awareness raising.
The Lunch and Learn session reaffirms the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis’ commitment to and prioritisation of inclusive dialogue and strengthening cross-sectoral partnerships towards the advancement of its vision of a Sustainable Island State.
