Samsung unveils AI-powered washers with enhanced energy savings

Samsung Electronics has announced new laundry appliances including the Bespoke AI Washer with A-65% energy efficiency and the second-generation Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, both demonstrated at IFA 2025 in Berlin.

AI-powered efficiency

The new Bespoke AI Washer stands out by achieving 65% greater energy efficiency than the minimum level required for a Class A rating in the European market. According to Samsung, this improved performance results from enhanced motor efficiency, better circulation, and more effective washing algorithms.

The A-65% washer is the latest iteration following the previous A-55% Bespoke AI Washer. This new appliance is designed to cater to growing consumer demand for products that help conserve energy while supporting daily household chores.

“With the new A-65% washer, Samsung has pushed the boundaries of convenience and energy efficiency once again,” said Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of the R&D Team, Digital Appliances (DA) Business at Samsung Electronics. “With AI-driven features like the new AI Wash+, innovative hardware upgrades, and a wider choice of design options, we aim to deliver personalised experiences that reduce effort and maximise satisfaction.”

The washer incorporates the upgraded AI Wash+ feature, which adapts the washing process to a broader variety of fabrics, including denim and outdoor clothing. By automatically detecting the load’s weight, level of soiling, and fabric type, AI Wash+ modulates water, detergent, and wash duration for each cycle to optimise performance.

For user convenience, the washer is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen, offering an interface that is aimed at making control easier. The washer can also integrate with the SmartThings platform, allowing for remote monitoring and operation.

Companion dryer with AI

Samsung is also releasing a matching dryer to complement the new washer. This dryer features AI Dry+, which uses sensors to detect both the fabric type and moisture level of each load. The technology then selects the optimal drying time, targeting efficiency and garment care.

At this time, no details have been shared regarding the availability of the new Bespoke AI Washer and matching dryer in Australia.

Upgrades to the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo

In addition to the new washer, Samsung has showcased the second-generation Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, its washer-dryer combination appliance. Building on feedback from the first generation, this model retains the same external size but increases drying capacity by 3 kg, achieved using structural modifications including a denser heat exchanger fin layout and an upgraded preheating system.

The second generation introduces several user-focused enhancements. The AI Wash & Dry + feature now detects a broader variety of fabrics, including denim and outdoor wear, to automatically tailor washing and drying cycles for improved results. An automatic door opening mechanism, Auto Open Door+, activates at the end of cycles, designed to help reduce moisture and odour inside the drum. The system can also circulate air through the tub after wash-only cycles to further lower humidity and maintain freshness.

Additional upgrades include optimised cycles such as a 79-minute Super Speed cycle, a 49-minute single garment programme, and a dedicated 39-minute shirt cycle. A new Dial Theme interface appears on the 7-inch touchscreen, displaying six frequently used cycles in a simplified layout intended to help make selecting and starting common washes more straightforward.

As with the washer and dryer, Samsung has not announced when or if the new Bespoke AI Laundry Combo will be available for consumers in Australia.
