Chhattisgarh healthcare in limbo as 16,000 NHM workers go on strike

On Get Real India, the focus is on a public health crisis in Chhattisgarh where nearly 16,000 National Health Mission workers are on strike. The strike has left primary health centers non-functional, with patients being turned away. The striking employees, including paramedics and nurses, have a ten-point charter of demands which includes the regularization of their service and a pay grade hike. The Vishnadiyo Sai Government stated it has addressed some demands, saying, “We have fulfilled four of their demands out of ten. We have formed a committee for three demands.” The impact on the ground is severe, forcing untrained individuals to step in; a sanitation worker was seen bandaging a wound in Ambikapur, while a security guard was filmed administering injections at the Gariyabandh District Hospital.
