Josh Duhamel Makes Rare Comment About Co-Parenting With Ex Fergie

Josh Duhamel got real about his relationship with ex-wife Fergie while sharing rare insight into their co-parenting dynamic.
“We all have to work together to make sure that this thing works,” Duhamel, 52, told Us Weekly about his co-parenting relationship with Fergie, 50, and his current wife, Audra Mari.
He went on to gush about Mari, 31, who he called an “amazing wife,” while Duhamel said that Fergie is an “amazing mom.”
Duhamel shares son Shepherd, 20 months, with Mari, and Axel, 12, with Fergie. He married Mari in 2022, while Fergie and Duhamel were married from 2009 until 2019.
The New Year’s Eve actor brought up his co-parenting dynamic with Fergie while discussing his new film, London Calling, in which he plays a deadbeat dad.
“It was fun to look at some of the things that I could even do better as a dad,” he told the outlet of how the film helped him reflect on his own parenting skills. “I work a lot, and I often have a lot of guilt about not being there as often as I could be. So I try to maybe overcompensate or do things to be there often.”

He added, “But at the same time, you want your kid to look and see [that] this is what you have to do to provide for your family. So on the one hand, you can’t be there all the time, because you’ve got to be setting an example. But on the other hand, you might be missing out on life moments that you’d [be there for] if you were a 9 to 5 dad who went to work every day and came home. So it’s a constant struggle in this business. It’s not easy.”
Duhamel went on to explain that he makes sure to be “with” his kids when he’s not working. However, he admitted that filming on location can be tricky and pointed out that London Calling was filmed in Cape Town, Australia.
“If you’re in Vancouver or New Mexico, it’s one thing. But when you’re in Cape Town, there’s no going back and forth on the weekends,” he said. “You’re either there you’re not. So it’s a struggle.”
