Two brothers shot in Arima

Police are investigating a shooting in Arima on Tuesday night that left two brothers nursing gunshot wounds.

Around 7:20 p.m., Joel Hernandez, 37, and his brother Nicholas Hernandez, 35, were liming with another man, identified as Daniel Edwards, near their home at Samaroo Village, Arima, when they were confronted by a gunman.

The suspect, described as slim-built, about 5’6” tall, and dressed in a black short-sleeve top and three-quarter pants, pointed what appeared to be a firearm at the men and fired several shots.

Joel was hit in the left arm, left leg, and chest, while Nicholas sustained injuries to his left leg and calf.

The gunman escaped by running toward the Priority Bus Route.

The brothers were taken to the Arima Health Facility. They are both listed in stable condition and are expected to be transferred to the Mt Hope Hospital.
