National Conference on Food Safety to Kick-Off Sept. 22 in Doha

Doha, September 17 (QNA) – The National Conference on Food Safety will kick off in Doha from Sept. 22 to 23. The conference is being held in partnership between the Ministry of Municipality and the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), with the participation of several ministers, senior officials, and experts in the fields of health and food safety.

Held under the patronage of HE Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, and HE Minister of Public Health Mansoor bin Ebrahim bin Saad Al Mahmoud; the conference will showcase the latest initiatives and technologies in the field of food safety.

It will be accompanied by an exhibition featuring 25 local and international companies, displaying the latest technologies and solutions in the field of food safety and control. The exhibition will also feature pavilions from the Ministry of Municipality, the Ministry of Public Health, and several food companies and institutions in the country.

Chairman of the Organizing Committee Jaber bin Hassan Al Jaber, explained that the conference covers seven main themes, including legislation and policies, technology and innovation, risk management, scientific research, sustainability and food security, emergency management and foodborne diseases, and the Qatari experience in the 2022 World Cup.

Al Jaber added that the conference reflects the integration of institutional roles to achieve a safe and sustainable food future, improve quality of life, and raise public health standards.

For his part, Vice Chairman of the Conference Preparation Committee and Assistant Director of the Food Safety Department at MoPH Khalid Yousuf Al Sulaiti, emphasized that the conference highlights the development of the legislative and executive system for food safety, including the new draft food law, the establishment of the Public Authority for Food Safety, and the launch of the “Watheq” e-system for food control in accordance with international standards.

In the same context, Director of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Municipality and a member of the Organizing Committee Dr. Fayqa Abdullah Ashkanani, explained that a comprehensive media plan has been developed to promote the conference, including a website for registration and follow-up on details of the sessions and speakers.

The conference reflects the State of Qatar’s commitment to establishing quality standards and enhancing sustainable food security in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030. (QNA)
