NATO member countries and European nations are reportedly mounting pressure on Russia and President Vladimir Putin as tensions have run high in Eastern Europe’s skies since more than a dozen Russian drones entered Polish airspace last week. Now the UK has said that Royal Air Force Typhoons will join allied forces, including from Denmark, France, and Germany, to bolster NATO’s defence and deterrence along its eastern flank adding that the jets were due to fly missions over Poland in the coming days. Russia’s defence ministry said at least 361 drones had been shot down by Russian air defence systems, including four guided aerial bombs and a U.S.-made HIMARS missile. It did not give details about the location of the attacks.While Ukraine has repeatedly struck oil refineries and other Russian energy infrastructure, its target Sunday was particularly significant.
