After more than a decade of multiverse-bending adventures on the page, Rick and Morty is reaching its conclusion at Oni Press. The publisher has confirmed that its long-running comic book line will wrap with a new six-issue miniseries ominously titled Rick and Morty: The End.
What is Rick and Morty: The End?
Launching on December 3, 2025, the final miniseries will be written by Daniel Kibblesmith (Loki) with art by Jarrett Williams (Speed Force).
The story promises a galaxy-spanning chase unlike any before:
Rick Sanchez is the most wanted man across every universe.
Governments, bounty hunters, mobsters, religious cults, theater troupes, and even endangered species are all after him.
Morty Smith, the person who knows Rick best, may be the only one able to capture him alive.
But Morty isn’t the only Smith in pursuit — Space Beth has her sights on Rick and doesn’t care how much destruction it takes.
In short, it’s a race between family members, enemies, and entire universes to decide Rick’s fate.
Why does this matter for fans?
While Rick and Morty comics have always leaned into outrageous adventures, Oni Press insists that the title of this series is no metaphor. In its official press release, the publisher wrote:
“THIS TITLE IS NOT SOME KIND OF ARTFUL METAPHOR, FOLKS! After 10 years and 100+ issues, the beginning of THE END starts here.”
That wording strongly suggests the Rick and Morty license at Oni Press will close once the six issues conclude — ending a run that began in 2015 and spanned over 100 main issues, spinoffs, and crossovers.
How does this tie into ongoing stories?
Currently, Oni Press is publishing Rick and Morty Versus the Universe, a crossover where the duo has enraged both their original and current realities. That storyline, set in the so-called Parmesan Universe (where everyone mispronounces “Parmesan” as “par-mee-zee-an”), sets the stage for the climactic End.
If the teaser is accurate, readers should expect The End to build on that chaos while delivering a finale that feels bigger, darker, and more final than previous arcs.
Is this the true end of Rick and Morty?
For Oni Press, yes — but for the franchise overall, not necessarily.
The Adult Swim TV series is still ongoing, with new seasons in development.
Other publishers could theoretically pick up the comics license in the future.
However, this does mark the end of an era: Oni Press has been the sole home of Rick and Morty comics for more than a decade.
What’s next?
Fans won’t have long to wait. Rick and Morty: The End #1 arrives on December 3, 2025, with five more issues following to close out the saga. Until then, the burning question remains: will Rick go down fighting, or will Morty and Beth finally bring him in?
Oni Press has announced Rick and Morty: The End, a six-issue comic miniseries launching December 3, 2025. Written by Daniel Kibblesmith and illustrated by Jarrett Williams, the story will pit Rick against Morty, Space Beth, and the entire multiverse. The publisher confirmed the title is not a metaphor — signaling the finale of Oni’s decade-long run with the franchise.
