3 days into new term, classroom fight under investigation

The Ministry of Education has launched an investigation into a violent altercation captured on video at Arima North Secondary School, which has been widely circulated on social media, sparking public outrage and concern.

In a statement issued earlier today, the Ministry expressed concern over the incident and condemned the behaviour, stating that such actions “undermine the values of respect, discipline, and responsibility that our education system seeks to instill in all learners.”

While details of the altercation have not been officially released, the video appears to show students engaged in a physical confrontation on the school’s compound. It is unclear at this time what led to the incident or how many students were involved.

The Ministry assured the public that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against all those found culpable, in keeping with the Education Act, Ministry policy, and national laws.

“The integrity of the learning environment remains paramount,” the Ministry’s statement read.

The Ministry also reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy on violence and indiscipline in schools and emphasised ongoing efforts to foster safe and secure environments for all students. Officials have pledged to work closely with school administrators, parents, and law enforcement to address the issue and prevent future occurrences.
