Iredell County’s search for a new Director for Veteran Services has come to an end with the appointment of Brittany Snyder, a former U.S. Navy service member, who will now take on the task of enhancing the lives of over 15,000 local veterans and their families through the coordination of benefits, advocacy, and outreach programs. Snyder’s transition into the civilian sector, which included a stint as grants coordinator for the County, has culminated in a role that capitalizes on her military expertise and her administrative acumen.

With a narrative that echoes the dedicated service of those she now vows to support, Snyder’s authentic understanding of military life is not just a resume bullet point—it’s a lived reality which she believes will inform her advocacy for accessible entitlements that “truly meet the needs of our veteran community,” as she confided in an interview with Iredell County’s news release. This appointment comes at a time when Snyder is not only professionally ascending but academically as well, with her anticipated graduation from Gardner-Webb University’s Master’s in Public Administration program slated for next month.

Beth Milton, Iredell County Manager, expressed enthusiasm for Snyder’s recent elevation, citing her military and county experience as dual streams of valuable insight, and with the confidence that Snyder, alongside the Veteran Services team, will maintain the high level of assistance the community has come to expect, “we’re excited for Brittany as she steps into this new role,” Milton shared with Iredell County’s announcement. Snyder’s academic journey, which includes a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Southern New Hampshire University complements her seasoned perspective, ensuring that she’s not only well-versed in the bureaucratic labyrinth veterans often navigate, but also equipped with the tools to enhance their journey toward receiving the benefits they’ve so honorably earned.
